Though I didn’t like berry picking as a child… I would be given a container and be told to “fill it up!”… which I did (then proudly showing either of my parents!)… only to have my little container dumped into a larger bucket that they were carrying and told, “good now go do it again!” It wasn’t fun!

Now this past summer I had a chance to go pick bakeapples again, and loved it… the smell on the land, the sunshine, and mostly the strong breeze keeping the flies off of me!

So when I got back to the studio, and started tufting, I knew I wanted to capture that feeling of being on Nuna… gathering some berries for the dark winter months ahead!
